Details
From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.4.2-2 i586; en-US; rv:0.9+) Gecko/20010521 BuildID: 2001052115 RedHat 7.1 fresh install. Ancient K6 266. Attempting to download samba mozilla freezes about 87% (4 tries 88% 85% 84% 88%) through. File donloads fine on Win 2000 {2001052104}. File download fine with Netscape 4.76. Ftp downloads with Mozilla seem to work OK. Mozilla is using ~98% cpu, everything that isnt being used by anyone else. The same thing happens attempting to download the mozilla-win32-talkback.zip about 54% through. Mozilla dies cleanly when killed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to http://us1.samba.org/samba/samba.html 2. Try to download the gzipped source. 3. Wait. Build Pyramids. Watch Rome fall. Give up.

This is happening to me too. My download always fails around 4900K for most files I download. I also found that it only fails when you specify http:// as the protocol. For example with the nightly mozilla if you put in ftp://path.to.mozilla it works, but if you put in http://path.to.mozilla it crashes. Hope that helps.
See Bug 80890 for the discussion on cache settings. I guess the disk-cache full/overflow is the reason for crash

It appears to work now in 2001052121. Presumably the fix for Bug 81799 did it. Thanks!
