The statement from ibarlow does not quite make sense. A shortcut to a page on the home screen should open that page not about:privatebrowsing.

Also should this happen, I think dragged off URL bar shortcuts don't do this on desktop as they open the browser as a regular tab.

Adding a shortcut is tantamount to bookmarking, and we allow that during PB.

"Add to Home Screen" is a form of bookmarking. No PB issues.
