decoder says:

r169984 makes ASan + "-g" + gdb much more usable.

Clang 3.2 is really close to being released, so I want us to stay on the 3.2 branch a bit longer to make sure it works for firefox out of the box, but once it is out we can move back to trunk to get r169984.
3.3 is coming out soonish.  I don't know that it's worth upgrading before the release, but I'm willing to upgrade after the release is done.

Is this bug relevant anymore with bug 870173?  I'd like to just have one bug for clang 3.3 upgrades.

With 3.3, this should be obsolete, yes.
