828819 - investigate providing more useful Toolbar Buttons

There are quite a few icons which would be nice to have available in "Customize Toolbar", like e.g. "Clear recent history", "Page Info", "Page Source" or "New Private Window". There are probably more which could be added.

There is an addon named "Toolbar Buttons" (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/toolbar-buttons/) which adds many of these icons. Some of these may be good to be available without requiring this addon.

Yet another addon which makes icons available is "QuickJava" (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/quickjava/), namely to allow to enable and disable several plugins (Flash, Java, Silverlight) as if they were enabled/disabled through Add-Ons -> Plugins (i.e. allowing to disable for real rather than only blocking). To add icons for this purpose helps a lot to keep plugins fully disabled unless specifically needed.

Is this worth considering for the new Australis UI? I'm adding "australis-cust" to the block list to make it visible for Australis devs.

* Clear recent history is bug 888525
* We could consider Page Info and View Page Source but they are also in the context menu which I think it a more relevant place
* New Private Window is already in the panel

We don't want to overwhelm users with a huge palette of possible buttons so please suggest specific buttons that are of high value (ideally in their own bug). Bugzilla isn't really the place to discuss which of the hundred items in that add-on are relevant here.

Shall we make this a metabug for new buttons or morph this to be Page Info or View Page Source?

The add-on manager is available in the menu panel by default so I don't think this is necessary out of the box. The add-on will hopefully continue to work with Australis.

Markus, I'll close this bug, because in its current state it's very hard to derive actual work from it.
