In my opinion, there is no reason why we should have this on by default.
As an additional note, DTMF tones should still end DTMF even if the tones are turned off.
Daniel, is there any certification requirement for DTMF tones to be on?
Actually in lieu of not having any audio feedback at all on the keys I'm going to recall this one.

The DTMF tones on Flame are really loud and unnecessary. They also lag the keypress significantly and make the experience feel very slow. We should reconsider turning off the tones.

Just use the standard vibration feedback when entering a phone number, like you would when entering text. DTMF is dissonant and hurts privacy.
