STR:
1) When you have the latest B2G version, tap Check now in Device Information to check for updates
2) "Checking for updates… appears below the button

Expected result:
"This is already the latest version of Firefox OS" replaces "Checking for updates…"

Actual result:
"This is already the latest version of Firefox OS" appears after "Checking for updates…" indefinitely.

Reproducible: always

Possible dupe of bug 829522?
Yep I'm pretty sure it is.

You can verify this by removing the Maps app, reboot your phone, and try again.

If this now works correctly, you can dupe this bug.
Ach, I always forget that we can't remove the Maps app on non-dev phones :-)

Well then, if you reboot the phone, you should see whatever new update you have. Also, the Maps app was recently converted to a packaged app, so this may disappear in a future build.

When you check for update, you really start 2 processes: one to check system update, and one to check app updates. What happens in bug 829522 is that system updates are returning correctly (hence the message you see) but not app updates (hence the "Checking for updates" message staying here).
Tracking while we get more info here on what messages the user gets about their updates status for both system & installed apps.

I close it as "duplicate" now. This was the symptom of another bug and this probably was fixed by this bug.

If this happens again, please file a new bug.
