From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9+)
Gecko/20010529 Netscape6/6.5b0
BuildID: 2001052904

On Windows, pressing the star while a tree item (with subitems) is selected
expands all subitems. Mozilla should do this too.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1) Open file:/// or file://c:/
2) Select a directory.
3) Press the * key

Actual Results: Nothing.

Expected Results: Directory and all subitems should expand.
Huh?

The '*' key does nothing for me on win2k and File Explorer. Can you give an
example where this works (and then mark this Future if this is not some
undocumented hack in windows).
It did what he said on WinXP.. though it may be undocumented.. I've never heard
of it at least.
Works for me in Win2k / Explorer... I'll show you if you want, John. :) This
has been a standard Windows thing since '95, at least.

Oh yeah, you have to hit the * on the number pad, not the one above the 8.
Target Milestone: --- → Future
Ok, the one on the numeric keypad does do that. Damn, never knew that was there
for six years :-\
I believe that at least plus and minus keys should expand/collapse trees when
the item with the plus or minus sign on the left has focus. At least that's how
it works on Windows (2000).
Blocks: 97434
Note: Currently Mozilla has no way of differentiating between +, -, * and the
keypad keys, so currently they are eaten by the tree "quicksearch".
Summary: [rfe] tree controls should expand if you press the asterisk → tree controls should expand if you press the asterisk
