Steps to reproduce:

Newsly installed Windows 7 on Elitebook 8560p. Installed Firefox 18.0.1, then click on Firefox - Options - Options. Tried rebooting, uninstalling, and reinstalling. Options still does not work.

Actual results:

No options Window appears when selected from menu, title bar says "Not Responding". When trying to Submit Feedback, title bar says "Not Responding". Then when you click the exit button (X), a message box appears, saying "Firefox is not responding" "If you close the program, you might lose information".

Expected results:

Options menu should appear, or Submit Feedback button should respond in some way.
Is your Issue reproducible in Safe-Mode too?

Do you use a non-Standard Windows Download Directory?

I have this EXACT same problem. Same Windows 7. Same HP Elitebook (86x0p).

HELP! I have tried every suggestion. Uninstalling. New profiles. CCCleaner. Manual registry cleanup. Running in safe mode, running as admin.. Nothing works.

I should add, I recently upgraded from XP Pro to Win 7, if you can call that an upgrade. My "Documents" folder and some of my Windows profile settings were copied from the old machine to the new.
Might be worth trying to edit the Prefs "browser.download.dir"/"browser.download.lastDir" within the "prefs.js" File what is in your Firefox' Profile Dir - with Firefox itself closed of course.

I have tried editing the file. Deleting the file. Deleting every file found by that name with "Mozilla" in the content. Deleting and creating profiles. safe mode. add ons disabled. Nothing works. At this point Firefox is unusable and not an option for me. This bug is widely reported on the Internet but no real solution has been posted.

Do you use any on-access scanning Security Software?
Does disabling this make a Difference?
I use Symmantec Endpoint and SAS. I have tried disabling them without any difference noted.
I don't think this is a scanning issue, I think this is some sort of path bug were ff is looking for something that doesn't exist, or is no longer available.
Depends on: 862747
Wayne, why should this bug depend on bug 862747? Can you please explain?
Does this still happen for someone CC'ed to this bug? If not we will close it out soon given less information.
No longer depends on: 862747
