Apparently gaia apps have started giving their origin as app://foo instead of http://foo. This does not pass the persona origin validator.
As a result, users will receive a red "There has been an error" message when trying to log in with unverified email and/or forced issuer. The error message will say something about an invalid origin.
This should be an easy fix, and it's all server-side.

Apparently this is how things have been since june, but building gaia with DEBUG=1 turns app:// into http:// for apps. I guess that explains it!

Migrate this to https://github.com/mozilla/browserid/issues/2965. no need to track in bugzilla if it's all server side.
