Actual results: The browser locks up trying to display the banner with the button to restart in 32 bit mode to support the 32 bit plugins. Expected results: The browser shouldn't lock up.

Could try with any 32 bit plugin but this quake live is the one I saw it on.

Could this be related to bug 814200 ?

No, this is 99.44% certainly unrelated to bug 814200. Given that we're dropping support for the old graphics/event models (Carbon events and Quickdraw graphics), all plugins should be able to run in a 64-bit browser (we run the plugin-container in 32-bit mode). We should remove entirely the "restart in 32-bit" code which is no longer necessary, and figure out what is happening with quake live. I'm going to make this bug specifically about quakelive, and we'll have another one on removing the 32-bit restart.
Summary: Switch back to 32 bit mode for a 32 bit plugin on Mac OS X → Quake live plugin locks the browser (mac)
