Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:0.9+) Gecko/20010530 Depressed Nav buttons (back, forward, reload, stop) should show visible shaft on top of hole The new pressed buttons look good (bug 81872). Just one minor suggestion: Since the nav buttons are at the TOP of the screen, one would be looking UP at the buttons. Therefore, when looking UP at an indented button, one would more likely see the TOP portion of the "shaft" (the hole the button moves into) and not the bottom portion. I suggest moving the visible part of the "shaft" from the bottom to the top.

> Since the nav buttons are at the TOP of the screen, > one would be looking UP at the buttons. Some info / argument against this bug... http://www.hp.com/ergo/english/yourpost.html http://www.hp.com/ergo/english/display.html You've got a wrong working posture buddy... <big grin>
Nevertheless, the eye's main focus is the CENTER of the screen, and to ook at the nav buttons one would look UP :) Anyhow, relative to all other elements on screen, one is really kindof looking UP at the buttons.
I agree with Peter; what the diagram at the first hp link doesn't show is that with a tilt-and-swivel monitor, the screen should be perpendicular to your line of sight. So even if you sit higher than the monitor, your direct line of sight forms a right angle with the center of the screen. Things above that are "above" your normal line of sight, so you look "up".
Exercise to the reporter: Name 5 apps that do this. If you can't, I'd suggest there's a reason why. Exercise two: Mock up buttons with onclick to show us this looks better.
probably not gonna change these.
