Details

1) open preferences 2) click on manage certificates 3) find a certificate which was issued by an "Unknown Issuer" 4) highlight certificate from unknown issuer and click on view 5) for Issued By Common Name (CN) <Unknown Issuer> Organization (O) <Unknown Issuer> Organization Unit (OU) <Unknown Issuer> I suggest the issuer component information be displayed here, possibly could indicate that the issuer's certificate is not in the certificate database. Also, maybe instead of "Unknown Issuer" on the certificate listing page, it could indicate that the issuing certificate is not in the certificate database. Maybe something like "Issuer's Certificate not on File". And also, there is a typo under the "Authorities" tab. "You have....Authories:"
Note: This is from Netscape 6 {Build ID: 2001052904}
Typo is real. PSM team will discuss what should be in the CN, O, OU. Maybe will split this into two bugs.

If I understand bug 93103 right, then this depends on it. Dependent on how that is resolved, there may be no "Unknown Issuer" in the first place, and this could be even resolved as a duplicate (apart from the typo)?
Certificates contain the issuer Distinguished Name (DN), which is Common Name (CN), etc... Displaying the issuer DN information should not be dependent on having the Issuer Certificate.
