Write confirmation email notifying the filmmaker that their flick has been declined to the contest and will not be posted live on the Flicks site.
We will need to list the criteria for declining the video. We are confirming with legal what that list should say and if it can be the same list we use in the FAQ.
For now, this list will be TBC
- Your flick must meet the requirements of the creative brief
- Your flick must be submitted under a Creative Commons - NonCommercial-ShareAlike license
- Your flick must be original
- Non-English flicks must have subtitles or include a written English translation
- Your flick must be submitted to the Flicks site
- Your flick must contain an accurate description
- Anyone that is not listed as a team member must sign a waiver granting you permission to film them
- Please keep it clean
UPDATE:
Met with legal and they recommend the following messaging:
- Nothing too detailed about why they film entry is being declined: A quick "sorry but your film does not meet one or more of the contest criteria. Please refer to our contest rules and criteria <link>"
- All decisions are final.

At one point we had talked about giving people the option of changing their entry and trying to submit it again. I think I prefer the email clean and simple, as it is below, but let me know if you'd like me to add language to that effect.
Hi [NAME],
Unfortunately, your flick does not meet one or more of the contest criteria and was not accepted to be part of the competition. Please refer to our <a>contest rules</a> for more information.
All decisions regarding submissions are final.
Sincerely,
The Firefox Flicks Team
Yep. We were talking about being nice and given them a chance to resubmit but legal suggested that it might decrease the crazy if we remove ourselves from the process and let them figure it out. They won't be blocked from resubmitting their revised film so they can go through the process again.
What we're going to be looking for in the evaluation process is things like profanity, porn, violence, indecency, etc. We won't be policing for quality or copyright infringements.
I'm sure they will find ways to contact us.
That being said. The Declined email copy looks good.

Seems good to go.
Can you create a space between greeting and the first paragraph.
Also i think it should read: "...does not meet one or more..." in the first sentence. Currently reads ..."meet one of more..."
