You have many extensions, so please try:
1) in safe mode: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
2) with a new profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
Does it fix your issue?

So you're on Win7 x64 + Platform Update (D2D/DW 6.2.9200.16440) + Azure + outdated GFX Driver.
=> you might want to update your GFX Driver: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Desktop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Q45+Express+Chipset&ProdId=2998&LineId=1100&FamilyId=39

I think it's a dupe of bug 851764.

It seems to be the same, do you think it's better to resolve as duplicate or reopen it?

David posted a good summary about all these bugs here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=851764#c12
Maybe you can add bug 851764 in the field "Depends on".

Unfortunately, this is not a very useful comment, but
I no longer have access to the computer where I could reproduce this.
Also worth noting that Chrome had issues on it as well, not in its chrome but in page content (most noticable with other tabs' content appearing in page backgrounds).
Is some rendering component shared between Firefox and Chrome?

It looks like a serie of devices is affected:
+ 0x2e12 (Intel(R) Q45/Q43 Express Chipset)
+ 0x2a42 (Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family)
philipp, could you try to update the drivers to the latest version released by Intel, please?

I had the same problem with 0x2a42 (Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family) under Windows 8.1 (64-bit).
Since updating to Windows 10 (64-bit) and the latest Firefox (currently 40.0.3) the problem is gone.
I don't know if Windows 10 or Firefox fixed it.

Peter, is it still an issue for you with the latest Firefox 41?

i think this might have gone away with bug 1180379 which put the adapter in question on a blacklist for certain graphics features.

I can confirm I am no longer having the issue.
Tested on the same laptop I originally experienced the issue one, still running Windows 7 SP1; Firefox 41.0
