If for example you try to login to a site for which you have a password that contains ^$%#@!, the password fails. 2 months or so ago, I noted the same problem with the mail/news reader.
Danny, could you give us an example of a site you log into that has this problem? That would help us track it down. When you say the mail/news reader, do you mean when the mail client asks you for your server password? Or do you mean a web-mail site?
Sorry, it turns out to be a site specific issue. I had mistakenly thought this was a client program problem, because of trouble with this issue with telnet and rlogin problems on HP boxes at work and mistakenly thought that this problem existed in this browser software as well.
