Starting in http://mxr.mozilla.org/build/source/buildbotcustom/process/factory.py#6550 we use hg_bin to clone, hg_bin to update, then 'hg' to do hg id. You can see that not working out well on https://tbpl.mozilla.org/?tree=Cedar, where 'hg' != 'c:\mozilla-build\hg\hg' and every Windows job is red.
