Details
Occasionally, files that I download fail to get downloaded completely. I would really like Firefox to mark such files as failed. In many situations, Firefox has enough information (size that the file is supposed to have and number of bytes that came through) to detect that. Currently, Firefox doesn't display anything that would tell me that I should redownload a file, and this constitutes a data loss to me.

What Firefox version are you not seeing the indicators on?
The word "Failed" should be displayed in the downloads panel/manager, so you not seeing it is actually a bug.
Can you reproduce this issue with a clean profile?

I suspect dupe of bug 237623.
Ioana, Marco is probably correct that there's another very long standing bug report about the same thing.
