(Followup after landing the layers refactoring)
The code path when receiving OpPaintTextureRegion on the compositor side is a mess. Among other things, it should pass the data directly to the CompositableHost rather than talking to the layer.
This has been partly addressed already and the remaining bits will be fixed along with bug 858914.
