RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 738952

(Reporter: linuxhippy, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0
Build ID: 20130215130331

Steps to reproduce:

I right clicked on the pdf http://derstandard.at/anzeiger/img/special/derStandardat_Karriere_Gesamtpreisliste.pdf opened in the internal image viewer and chose "Save Page As..." in the context menu.

Actual results:

Although Firefox correctly prompted me where to store the file "derStandardat_Karriere_Gesamtpreisliste.pdf" the resulting file on disk is corrupt (only 65.9 kb in size) and can not by opened by various native pdf viewers.

When downloaded with wget, the file is 930.1 kb and can be displayed with evince without any problems.

Expected results:

Firefox' internal pdf viewer should not corrupt pdf files when saving to disk.
Summary: "Save page As..." in integrated podf viewer results in correupted files → "Save page As..." in integrated pdf viewer results in corrupted files
WFM here with FF19 on Win 7, the PDF is not corrupt and my external PDF reader is able to open it locally after download.
Component: Untriaged → PDF Viewer
Doesn't work with FF19 on Linux: http://youtu.be/onV_NKo4I5s
Broken in Fx 19b6 Mac OS X 10.8.2. Probably the same as Bug 738952.
Please note that Firefox saves the HTML (with the .pdf file extension) with its ressources folder. It does not save the PDF at all.
Florian: Yes, I thought it is something like this and can confirm this is a duplicate of 738952.

In my opinion this needs to be fixed, as its misleading for the user.
Saving the html is completely useless for the user, and by appending the pdf-file extension it tricks the user to believe its really a pdf which is saved.
