Maybe I missed this and someone can set me straigh. I need to
set ports for IMAP mail. I ssh into work and setup email on
port 1110 and smtp 2500. I tried to enter this as localhost:1110
in the email setup wizard but I get an invalid hostname popup everytime. Is
this a bug? If not what is the proper way to do this?
If I'm setting this up wrong then I'd move this bug to docs 'cause
I couldn't find any help on this.
Thanks
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Bring up messenger for the first time.
2. Start the account setup wizard
3. On the IMAP screen that prompts for the mail servername
type in <servname>:<port>.
4. Click OK.
Actual Results: Popup dialog syaing incorrect hostname format.
Expected Results: Use the given host and port to configure mail. All my other
email
programs allow you to set alt ports this way.
Can't use email without this. As I say I setup an ssh session back
into work with specific ports forwarded. I forward ports > 1024 so
I don't have to be root to setup ssh.
This is a blocker for me. :-(

OK, don't make fun of me, I really screwed up. The port settings weren't what
I expected. So I'd close this bug. Maybe I should open another bug about
the error message being shown. Invalid hostname format probably should have
said something like Could not connect to host <host> on port <port>.
Sorry about the screwup.
Keith,
Please take a look at the bug 80855 for the description on the way valid
hostnames are to be built.
In your case, did you try typing the localhost for the server name and then
using the port field in the server settings panel (Edit->MailNews
Settings-><Your Imap Account>->Server Settings) for entering your port number
(1110) ? That should probably help you.
