User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:18.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/18.0 Build ID: 20130201065344 Steps to reproduce: Browsing. Happened without clicking, but may be connected to scrolling or mouse-over. Noticed on multiple pages including somethingawful.com, cnn.com, weather.com and this bug report page. The attached picture shows what happened when I clicked in the "summary" field above, and it is repeatable. Actual results: Text randomly appears to turn fuzzy, almost as if it went out of focus or the screen had a lower resolution. Sometimes it's a few words, sometimes a whole line, or an entire paragraph. Highlighting the text will switch it back to normal, as will mouse-over, even if it doesn't have a mouse-over action. On Weather.com, a picture next to some text also went "out of focus" when the text did too. Expected results: Nothing, the text should not change randomly, as if the computer thinks I'm zoomed out or on a smart phone.
Is this an issue if you update to Firefox 19? Providing a copy of help > troubleshooting info would be great.

Just updated to Firefox 19 and rebooted, still happens. Thinking back, when I shut down my computer this morning on my way to work, windows installed something instead of shutting down immediately. Maybe there is a conflict with a windows update or some other program that was waiting for a reboot. I haven't installed any new add-ons to Firefox recently and haven't messed around with my video card or monitor settings. Here's the troubleshooting info: Application Basics Name Firefox Version 19.0 User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0 Build Configuration about:buildconfig Extensions Name Version Enabled ID Adblock Plus 2.2.3 true {d10d0bf8-f5b5-c8b4-a8b2-2b9879e08c5d} DownThemAll! 2.0.15 true {DDC359D1-844A-42a7-9AA1-88A850A938A8} Menu Editor 1.2.7 true {EDA7B1D7-F793-4e03-B074-E6F303317FB0} Silvermel and Charamel XT 1.5.5 true silvermelxt@pardal.de Youtube ratings preview 1.08 true ytlike@davidebuldrini.com Logitech Flow Scroll 4.00.33 false {5D3F3872-91E9-4d59-AD9F-AA174A3145DD} Important Modified Preferences Name Value accessibility.typeaheadfind true accessibility.typeaheadfind.flashBar 0 browser.cache.disk.capacity 358400 browser.cache.disk.smart_size.first_run false browser.cache.disk.smart_size.use_old_max false browser.cache.disk.smart_size_cached_value 358400 browser.places.smartBookmarksVersion 4 browser.search.useDBForOrder true browser.startup.homepage http://mail.yahoo.com/ browser.startup.homepage_override.buildID 20130215130331 browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone 19.0 browser.tabs.onTop false browser.zoom.full false extensions.lastAppVersion 19.0 font.name.serif.x-western Tahoma gfx.direct3d.prefer_10_1 true network.cookie.prefsMigrated true places.database.lastMaintenance 1361446557 places.history.expiration.transient_current_max_pages 50607 places.history.expiration.transient_optimal_database_size 167772160 plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types application/pdf privacy.donottrackheader.enabled true privacy.sanitize.migrateFx3Prefs true security.warn_viewing_mixed false Graphics Adapter Description ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series Adapter Drivers aticfx64 aticfx64 aticfx32 aticfx32 atiumd64 atidxx64 atiumdag atidxx32 atiumdva atiumd6a atitmm64 Adapter RAM 1024 Device ID 0x9490 Direct2D Enabled true DirectWrite Enabled true (6.2.9200.16492) Driver Date 4-19-2011 Driver Version 8.850.0.0 GPU #2 Active false GPU Accelerated Windows 1/1 Direct3D 10 Vendor ID 0x1002 WebGL Renderer Google Inc. -- ANGLE (ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series) AzureCanvasBackend direct2d AzureContentBackend direct2d AzureFallbackCanvasBackend cairo JavaScript Incremental GC true Accessibility Activated false Prevent Accessibility 0 Library Versions Expected minimum version Version in use NSPR 4.9.4 4.9.4 NSS 3.14.1.0 Basic ECC 3.14.1.0 Basic ECC NSSSMIME 3.14.1.0 Basic ECC 3.14.1.0 Basic ECC NSSSSL 3.14.1.0 Basic ECC 3.14.1.0 Basic ECC NSSUTIL 3.14.1.0 3.14.1.0

Reporter, could you try with HWA disabled, please. see http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/forum-response-disable-hardware-acceleration (restart Firefox to apply) In addition, I think bug 846130 is dupe to this current bug.

That seems to have fixed it, toggled it on and off a few times and the results seem consistent. Checked the other bug report, and yep, my computer installed windows update KB2670838 yesterday morning, right before this started happening. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the feedback, even if disabling HWA is a poor workaround with recent GPU because it's a useful feature. When the issue will be fixed, try to enable HWA again.
