The German umlauts in the attached PDF-File are not shown. They are replaced by white spaces. I added also two screen shots, one with the failure and one with the expected result.

The PDF is a form from a German bank for the German post office to verify the identity of a person. The file is created by Acrobat Destiller 9.5.2 which is a popular program. We have other files which show the same problem.

I tested the PDF with the following browsers:
- Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/20.0
- Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:21.0) Gecko/20130227 Firefox/21.0 (Version 21.0a2)

I know that there is another Bug for a similar problem (761539).
But with the above listed browsers I can see all problematic forms from 761539 correctly but not our forms. So I think this is a new problem and I decide to open a new ticket.

It works for me in the latest Nightly. I know that at least one accent-related bug has been fixed after Fx 19. Klaus could you check if it is fixed for you too in Nightly?
It is ok in the Linux version but not in the Windows version.

I tested it with
 - Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:21.0) Gecko/20130311 Firefox/21.0 (ok)
 - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:21.0) Gecko/20130311 Firefox/21.0 (not ok)

Unfortunately the bank uses the windows version...
Klaus, what about Firefox Nightly/22?

Oops, I didn't read "nightly"

The German Umlauts works with:
 - Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:22.0) Gecko/20130311 Firefox/22.0
 - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:22.0) Gecko/20130311 Firefox/22.0

BUT I found another failure that I didn't recognized before: The Euro-Sign (€) isn't shown correctly in the windows version. Linus shows it correctly.

I add another form which shows the problem with the Euro-Sign.

This looks like a font problem, as I see it on Mac OS (maybe the system font used has not the symbol).

But I still get the yellow bar "This page may not be displayed correctly..." anyway, so maybe there is another problem still (no info in the console, only that the pdf was created in Acrobat Distiller)
When I see the sign in Firefox/20 and 21 but not in 22 *at the same system* it can't be a problem with the system font.
A simular bug is still observed with Firefox/32:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1079470
The problem is still there with FF 35

If i open a PDF in Firefox 68.0.2 (64-Bit) OSX 10.11.6 El Capitan, the PDF does not show german umlauts (Ä,Ü,Ö,ä,ü,ö) – when i print this PDF from Firefox, it does not print the umlauts.

BUT if i download the PDF (the one without the umlauts showing) and open it with acrobat reader – there are the umlauts showing – and printing – as they should.

Tried with Windows 10 and Firefox 81. Seems fine there. I'll close, but if there are still issues I can re-open.
