RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 50673

People

(Reporter: rob.mehofer, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0
Build ID: 20130307023931

Steps to reproduce:

I wanted to select a portion of a text which was part of a link text, so I could use it as search input, copy it,...

Actual results:

The drag drop action of the link started.

Trying to use a modifier key (shift, control,..) only the Alt key did something:
While pressing Alt text could be marked with the left mouse button, but releasing the mouse button opened a save dialog.
Pressing the Alt key only at the beginning an releasing it while selecting the text made the Firefox menu appear and releasing the mouse button after that resulted in the same action a normal mouse click would do (open link).

Expected results:

The text should have been selected like normal text.

(After reading what can be done with the link drag drop action I come to the conclusion there are a lot of ways to get the same result without drag drop, but there is no way to select parts of a link text.)

ups, sorry has nothing to do with Bugzilla...

you should reset value of browser.altClickSave to default value.
Caret browsing (F7) is a way.
Duplicate of bug 50673 or bug 215926.

Thanks, "normal" links work now.
Links with javascript attached to them still don't:
Like the one here on Bugzilla "Show CC Changes" - try to select only the "CC" -> javascript changes it to "Hide CC Changes" when you release the mouse button.
