Hi everyone, I have added a few layouts for the 3 Blog post banners. Overall I have continued to stick to the theme of the grid, but still hopefully offer enough variety and uniqueness for each. I have used the criteria from the brief as a basis for these. Please let me know what you think. Thanks! Matt
Hi...here is the feedback on the first three blog post carousels. 1. Filmmaker Assets - - Design: this is a tough one. I see why you're using the white bands but I really think they are over-powering the screen. Is it possible to revise with much less prominent background separators (the white bands). Also can you match the logo sequence to the copy mention order? Meaning, if MovingArt is listed first in copy, it should be positioned first in layout order (top-bottom or left-right) Matt: can you add the Remix, Share and Zero logos from the attached zip file? - Copy: I think the copy here should be about the partnerships: we partnered with some amazing brands to bring you some great free assets to help you make your flick. To save space, you don't have to list the brands; maybe say something like check out the list of resources available to you. 2. Prized Winnings - - Design: This one is good. Just need a different hero image to replace the current one. Could we use something more "winning" like a red carpet or a fox and winners? - Copy: Can we re-think the headline here? It's a clever play on words but ultimately leaves the reader flat. Can we hit them with a headline that elevates the prizes into must-have awards? Something to get the people going...get them in a frenzy about all the potential prizes. It would be great too if the sub-head could reinforce the amazing list of prizes with: learn more about this year's amazing prizes. There are many ways to win along the way. What we want to do is to motivate people to participate with us throughout the entire campaign not just at the end. 3. Creative Commons - - Design: Really like the treatment on the CC logos. Would love to be able to re-purpose the background image from the current Enter by April 3 carousel. The Enter by April background seems more vibrant in a subdued way that won't interfere with the top level copy and logos of the CC carousel. - Copy: Can we adjust the copy to be more declarative/triumphant. Something like: we teamed up with Creative Commons! Find out how you can use their licensed content to make your flick. 3. 1. Assets — let's keep the headline and CTA as is and change the copy to this: We've partnered with some great brands to bring you a number of free assets that you can you use to help your flick stand out. 2. Prizes — I don't think there's room to list the prizes here (and we already have a section for that on the site). We should be using this promo as a tease to learn more about them with a few hits of exciting info. Here's the revised copy: Win big, win often There are many prizes to be won and you could win them all. Learn more about this year's amazing awards. Read the blog post » 3. Creative Commons — I don't really see how the feedback is different from what we have, other than to amp ourselves up regarding the partnership. I'd prefer to keep this user-benefit focused rather than talking about us, so I recommend to keep as is.
Thanks, Matej. #1. OK. I can roll with keeping the headline as is. I like the new copy. #2. I want to be careful that we don't say you can win them all. Technically, once you've won one of the Early Entry Awards you can not win another Early Entry Award. A film can win: 1 Early Entry Award, People's Choice Award, Regional or Grand Prize. The idea is to get them to submit their flick early so they can win along the way. It's about communicating that we have many prizes that are within reach. #3. Agree that this has to focus on the benefit to the user. What I'm suggesting is that we communicate to our partner - Creative Commons - that we're excited about the partnership. As presented, it reads a little matter of fact like it's no big deal. Just asking for a blurb here that communicates to the reader and the partner that we're happy to have CC's support in providing the user this particular benefit. Thanks. Let me know what you think. Arcadio
1. Great, thanks. 2. Sure. Here's a revised version: Win big, win often There are many prizes and many chances to win throughout the competition. Learn more about this year's amazing awards. Read the blog post » 3. The fact that we're featuring it in this prominent spot says it's a big deal and that we consider it important, but I'm fine saying something like "exclusive," if it's accurate: Get Creative (Commons) Learn about our exclusive Creative Commons partnership and how you can use their licensed materials in your flick. Read the blog post »
2. Thanks. Appreciate that. 3. yeah "exclusive" sounds really good but the CC partnership isn't really exclusive since they are not providing us anything that is specific to Firefox. I think just saying that "we teamed up with CC" and "learn how you can use their materials to make your flick"will work. I think the nuance is in treating it as something new and special without overselling it or playing it down too much.
(In reply to alainez from comment #11) > 3. yeah "exclusive" sounds really good but the CC partnership isn't really > exclusive since they are not providing us anything that is specific to > Firefox. I think just saying that "we teamed up with CC" and "learn how you > can use their materials to make your flick"will work. That's pretty much what it says now. The only difference is that it doesn't way "we," but rather keeps it from the users perspective as to what they can and should do. I think we're debating some pretty subtle nuances that people aren't going to pick up on and that it's fine as it is.
Ok. Let's move on to next steps.

Attachment 732535 [details]: Just need a different hero image to replace the current one - man and woman Flicks banner in the background people tilting head Attachment 732536 [details]: remove Creative Commons Share, Remix, Zero icons. Hi Arcadio, Wanted to confirm that comment 17 from Matej is the final copy? That was used in the last round I sent, so the only things not reflected in those are the minor graphic changes you mentioned. Also with regards to the hero image change, from a visual point of view something on a lighter background with a limited amount of people will work best in that space. I find anything too dark doesn't allow for the necessary contrast and causes a bit of a visual overload. Going through the images I have, I only have a few that fit this...do you have anything that you can suggest?
I'm a bit confused as well, seeing as those last few comments yesterday all came in at the same time, but comment 17 should be the final copy. Arcadio, can you also let us know what the issue is with the image on the prizes promo? As a shot of people holding an award in front of a Flicks banner, I think it works (and looks) great. Is there something that image isn't fulfilling strategically?
Attached image Win Big, Win Often
Hi, Yes. I saw the Win Big, Win Often promo first. It has the right headline but the copy is still using the old "you can win them all" phrase. See attached. Based on this, and seeing how Matej also posted the final copy at the same moment (or shortlty after) the revised promos were posted, I just figured they had to be revised. Re: that image. I look at the people and there is something inauthentic about them, something like a forced smile. The photos around them just have a better feel to them. If there isn't anything readily available, let's leave it and finalize these promos. Thanks. Hope this makes sense. arcadio
Thanks for the clarification, Arcadio. Sounds like we're good on copy on the most recent versions. Matt, if you have something easy to replace that photo, go ahead. Otherwise I recommend keeping as is so we're not holding these up any more.

Hi guys, I've updated the various banners with the latest feedback...specifically the Win big, win often banner...I've included an alternative hero image. Same setting different couple.
Thanks, Matt. That's awesome. For the creative commons one, can we bring back the three satellite images you had originally? We just wanted to add the three new ones, without removing any of the old ones...see attached for elements, not layout Thanks you guys! arcadio

YES! Thanks again, Matt. Arcadio
Hey Arcadio, sorry bout that, I've just attached a version with all 6 icons. I've played with various sized squares in the layout....felt all 6 at that size was a bit too much.
These look great. Thanks Matt.
Agreed. Great job, Matt!

Thanks. Looks good to. My on;y comment regards the color of the paragraph: it is white here (and on Shooting People), orange on other promos (e.g. Make Your Flick a Winner)... is there a rational as per why that's the case? I just want to make sure we have a consistent style unless the content justifies it. Thanks.
Actually no rationale, it was a bit of an oversight on my end. In the past we were playing with white verses orange text for the body copy, but we have since established orange. I will post an updated copy of this one. Thanks! Matt
