Selecting the whole URL bar with keyboard commands does not copy to the X clipboard

Details
On Linux, I expect that selecting something in the location bar puts the selected part in the primary clipboard. But this does not happen when I
* select the whole location bar with Ctrl-L or
* enter the location bar in any way (clicking, Ctrl-L) and selecting everything with Ctrl-A.
It does work when I use Shift-→ to select parts of the location.
A similar bug, but with mouse selection, is #393828 and #226853
This should probably be listed at #144260.
