Steps to reproduce:

Set Window's DPI scaling to 200%. (150% will not do since it uses 48x48 icons.)
Set icon size to Large in taskbar properties.


Actual results:

Observe that the Firefox icon is jagged/pixellated


Expected results:

The 64x64 sized icon should be used, as it is when pinned but not running.

Looks like this only happens if the taskbar button is displaying its label; if you set it to "Hide labels" in the taskbar properties, the icon remains high-res.

Interestingly, I see the same behavior with a number of standard Windows applications, such as Notepad and Snipping Tool, and even IE10 and Word 2010.

Others, however, such as MS Paint and Wordpad, seem to maintain a nice, high-res icon even when the label is shown, so it ought to be possible for us to fix this.

This looks fixed to me on latest Nightly 51.0a1 2016-08-12 on Windows 10 build 14901.

Have you tested on Windows 8/7? Windows 10 uses smaller taskbar icons so it looks okay there.

Closed this based on a misunderstanding. I didn't have time to look in to this so clearing needinfo and moving back to "New".
