tip is not always default in hg - don't assume that. (surfaced on build-buildbotcustom)
Note - this would only impact "in house" repos in the short term (since Friday when bug introduced)
No longer sure this bug was just introduced Friday. May have just first been hit now.
This patch now maps default only if default exists. And, it does not assume default is the same as tip.
