Details

(Whiteboard: [bugday-20131021][closeme 2014-06-01])

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0.1
Build ID: 20120911180149

Steps to reproduce:

According to http://kb.mozillazine.org/Clipboard.autocopy I set clipboard.autocopy to false in order to disable copy-on-select. I restarted Firefox and checked that the option is still set to false.

Actual results:

Nothing.

Expected results:

Disabling of the copy-on-select feature.
Thanks for reporting this and sorry for the long delay!
Can you still reproduce this with the newer Firefox versions?

Oh, I had almost forgotten about it. I will test it as soon as I find time to install a new Firefox version, but it may take a couple of days.
I tested with Firefox 24.0 & 26.0a1 (both 64 bit versions) and now it's the other way round - selecting does not copy even though clipboard.autocopy is set to true. I consider this a fix, but it still doesn't work as advertised.

By the way, the website (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/) makes it really hard to download a version other than the one offered. I had to go to http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/, which isn't linked on the website.

Works correctly for me with 2013-10-21-03-02-03-mozilla-central-firefox-27.0a1.en-US.linux-x86_64. I needed to restart Nightly after changing the pref in either direction.

Same with 2013-08-04-03-02-07-mozilla-central-firefox-25.0a1.en-US.linux-x86_64.
Can you still reproduce?

After an update to Firefox 22 the setting now works as advertised with the small proviso that I have to restart Firefox after changing the setting for it to take effect (which is OK for me). Thanks for your help. Publicly accessible bugtrackers are great :)
