build/manifestparser.py is slated to go away: bug 707976 . So I don't think we want this patch. Once talos is on python 2.7 (bug 734446 AIUI) and we can actually drop support for python < 2.7 for mozbase purposes, there will be considerable effort in making testing/mozbase/ 2.7 compatible, let alone 3.x compatible.
I'm inclined to drop the review and dupe against bug 707976, though will let :wlach and :jgriffin add anything first if they have anything to add.
