I'm not sure if this is coming or not, but it would be useful to have an errors window that you could bring up to show the HTML errors, both bad html that has been handled, and use of deprecated features. You could bring this up from the menus, or from clicking a little tick or cross (depending on status) on the status bar. It would be good if this was integrated with Javascript errors. I'm not sure whether this should be assigned to Apprunner or Layout.
I absolutely agree. In the interests of consolidation: I note that there was a discussion of this n.p.m.layout ~May 10-12. rickg indicated that there was some code in place to possibly support this facility (although I expect this is unlikely to happen in 5.0 without someone (less burdened than rickg) taking ownership). Thread at: news://news.mozilla.org/373378BD.BE8A4005%40san.rr.com An RFE was filed -- bug #6211 -- marked REMIND by rickg 1999-05-13 matty@box.net.au: you might wish to comment on this idea on n.p.m.layout or on bug #6211 or look into the code at lxr.mozilla.org. Cheers.

Thank you, I remember that discussion, but couldn't find it. Everything seems to be covered in that bug (which I didn't know of, and couldn't find). Marking as duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 6211 ***
In that case, you might add your comments to bug #6211. I really didn't intend to limit you; rather, I just wanted to focus the discussion (either on the newsgroup or as an addendum to 6211). John.
I might put a few comments there, most of it has already been mentioned though.
I think giving navigator the ability to authorize HTML is a great idea, especially if while editing your own pages if there is an html error (such as the infamous, no close table tag and the entire table or even page does not appear) that a small symbol could appear in the status bar and when clicked would bring up a window showing the problem (such as a small version of the html icon with a small x in it?) , then perhaps you could even have the option of e-mailing the webmaster to tell him/her of the error and how to fix it! Of course in the case of pages hosted by a company it would likley need to search that sites html files for a mailto link for the sites webaster.
