Nightly 23.0a1 2013-04-03/ Aurora 22.0a2 2013-04-02 Acre Iconia Tab A500 (Android 3.2.1) Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to movietickets.com continue to the website 2. Long tap on the search field and choose to add as search engines 3. Make sure the website is not opened in other tabs and perform a search using the new search engine 4. With the page loaded in one of the existing tabs open a new tab and perform a search using the movieticket search engine. Expected results: Both at step 3 and 4 the website is opened and a search is done after the entered string Actual results: At step 3 the website is opened but there is no search performed At step 4 the website is opened and the search is performed
This works for me on Nightly (04/04). I can conduct a search through the newly added engine regardless if the site is in an existing tab or not. I searched for 'Jurassic'; see video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdBSxqkLEI8 WFM.
After further investigations on Nightly 23.0a1 2013-04-04 using the Acer Iconia Tab (Android 3.2.1) I found the following: 1) The search engine works if the search is done in a tab where any page has been loaded 2) The search engine does not work if the search is done directly after tapping the new tab button. Updated steps to reproduce: 1) Add a search engine from movietickets.com 2) Close all tabs. In the only about:home tab left tap on the URL bar and search for a movie using the movieticket search engine (for e.g. "oz") 3) Open the Tab Drawer and and tap on the new tab button. 4) In the opened Awesomebar type the same string to search and choose to search using the search engine Actual results: At step 2 the search is done and a list of movies is displayed At step 4 the search is not done and the movietickets.com search page is displayed
