Steps to reproduce:

After update to 21 beta font on most web sites do not fully render.
Screen shot is from google+ but the problem exists everywhere -even this form.

I also have firefox 21 beta on Mint linux 14-- no problem at all with font rendering.

Microsoft updated explorer to 10 while I wasn't watching, happened the same time as the firefox update. Anyway, I uninstalled explorer 10 and it made no difference but disabling direct2d seems to be a temporary solution still not a real solution.

You should remove KB2670838

Microsoft just released some updates that seem to take care of the problem.

I have IE 10 installed plus KB2670838, I turned direct2d back on, seems fine now.

I was wrong the Windows update did not fix the problem with fonts and direct2d.

With direct2d disabled everything seems okay.
