Quickfind box opens randomly when I begin typing, very annoying!

Using Ubuntu 12.10 & Firefox 20.0. Quickfind box pops up randomly when typing messages on facebook mostly but can be anywhere.  Most recently when typing in username on a banking site. Any key can trigger it.  I've read about this problem on old posts from several years ago but have not seen any answers on what to do about it.
Does unchecking "Search for text when I start typing" in
Preferences->Advanced->General help?

Also when typing messages in facebook or logins on your bank.  Clicking in the pace you are trying to type and ensuring you have a cursor there will ensure you are actually typing into the field you think you are.
