User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/20.0
Build ID: 20130409194949
Steps to reproduce:
It appears Firefox may be ignoring embedded profiles for some images.
See the attached example ( Red tulip by Yuri Levchenko from http://www.flickr.com/photos/i8ipod/8659145906/ ).
The photo has an sRGB profile embedded.
Actual results:
However when viewed in Firefox the red in the image is clearly outside the sRGB gamut and vastly different than it appears in Photoshop.
I'm using a calibrated, wide-gamut monitor.
Expected results:
The image should be displayed using its embedded sRGB profile, as it appears when opened in Photoshop.
A few more examples:
www.flickr.com/photos/dantesspirit/8641103768/sizes/o/
www.flickr.com/photos/monsterbrick/8659008650/sizes/o/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/dianeworland/8647351590/sizes/o/
Firefox respects the embedded profiles in other images. See the two attached samples which I created. The other examples are not mine, so I'm not sure how they were created.
Changing the preference gfx.color_management.mode from the default, 2 (Enable color management for tagged graphics only) to 1 (Enable color management for rendered graphics) fixes this issue. However the images in question *do* include embedded tags.
So basically Firefox in the default mode (2) is not using the embedded profiles in some tagged images.
I don't have the technical knowledge to dive too deeply into this, but it's possible this is a dupe of Bug 663212.
