Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.31 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/26.0.1410.64 Safari/537.31 Steps to reproduce: Startup, checked all menus, eventually tried a search. Actual results: It used Google so my freedom got compromised, probably already connected to the Google botnet. Expected results: When first pressing the search bar, a choice should appear to change search engine OR a warning that you are now searching without freedom.
You're in luck. We just added specifying a default search engine in bug 730445 for Firefox 23 currently on Nightly (http://nightly.mozilla.org). You can add your own search engine (long-tap on search-fields and 'add as search engine', or via addons.mozilla.org); and can specify a default in the Add-Ons Manager.
