This is a follow-up to bug 667243. Currently we restrict the coordinates we use to position the caret inside editable elements, and we should do something similar for text selection to avoid getting unwanted offset values (this can happen if you drag a handle to the edge of the input).
Pruning some old bugs obviated by new Core/Layout AccessibleCaret implementation, or being no longer observable. (Please re-open if appropriate.)
