Steps to repro: *Using the Buri device with a 4/19 build from our OEM partner that mwu flashed *Launch the Music app with some songs ready to play *Play music for 2-3 mins Result: *Loud tone that is unbearable and requires the user to restart the phone, turn the phone off or pull the battery (UI is still responsive) Expected: *No tone and I can continue to listen to my music This is definitely a blocker and not sure if it's tied only to the Music app.

Haven't yet been able to reproduce on the device I am using, have been playing music for about 10 minutes. Using the same build as in Comment 0. I recall during MWC testing that tchung hit a similar bug a while back on the same device - See Bug 839632.
Summary: Playing Music for a couple mins results in a very loud tone → [Buri] Playing Music for a couple mins results in a very loud tone
hi cheng-an, do you observe this bug? thanks
Flags: needinfo?(chengan.xiong)
I can reproduce this 100% consistently and not it doesn't take 2-3 mins, less than 10 seconds the loud tone is triggered. I can try to pull the logcat to see if there is any useful data there?
(In reply to Joe Cheng [:jcheng] from comment #2) > hi cheng-an, do you observe this bug? thanks yes. and it's been resolved on latest sw. please upgrade. "unbearable and requires the user to restart the phone, turn the phone off or pull the battery (UI is still responsive)" if dont restart, it will get white screen if re-launch music app.

mind trying again once you flashed latest partner build? thanks

Jason - he just needs to verify with new partner build, isn't that a 'verifyme'?

(In reply to lsblakk@mozilla.com from comment #8) > Jason - he just needs to verify with new partner build, isn't that a > 'verifyme'? Sorry for the keyword confusion (we're working on fixing this problem). It's qawanted in this case because the bug hasn't been resolved. verifyme will only show up in our queries if the bug is RESOLVED or VERIFIED.

I reproduced this loud tone in the speaker, but in a different way, though.. Build info: Gaia 63c3b1d463c142c4aa7aa88b5ee3d173d1edbbc6 BuildID 20130426200111 Version 18.0 (this is the partner build I guess, and it doesn't pull out the gecko id) STR: 1. Open FM and start playing FM (the headset will obviously be plugged in for the FM to be played) 2. Tap on home button to get to the home screen so that the FM now plays on the background 3. Now make a call to the Buri device from some other phone and watch Actual : When the Buri device gets the call, the ringtone is loud and jarring, and it plays both in the speaker and the headset. And the ringtone sound that I hear through the headset is really very loud and might startle the user (this happens no matter how low I keep the volume, using the volume buttons on the side) Expected : The user should hear the ringtone through the headset possibly because he is listening to FM, and not through the speaker (atleast not both the speaker and the headset at the same time) Can anyone else see the same kind of issue that I experienced?
Flags: needinfo?
The above listed bug is not connected to whats the real issue, but the point that I tried to make is the loud, jarring music which is painful to the user.

I haven't been able to reproduce the original issue (Loud sound when Music is playing) on the Buri Device - 4-26 partner build. But then again I wasn't able to reproduce this on my device when I tried earlier in Comment 1. I wasn't able to reproduce the issue that Sreenidhi hit in Comment 12 either.

Just curious as to which headphones were being used - I was using ZTE headphones when testing.
This problem will only occur on some special devices, not on all devices. And we already have patch for it. Please try with our latest build(later than 4/25) on Chris's device. To make sure it is working normally.
I will retry this on a Buri device with a 4/25 build tomorrow.
Flags: needinfo?(clee)
I changed the status to resolved. Please try with build later than 4/25. If you still can reproduce it, please reopen the PR.
