It would be nice to be able to use the Highlighter to highlight nodes from the Console or Debugger. Should we move highlighter.jsm and friends into the Framework module?

Indeed. We've been talking about moving the highlighter + selection mechanism at the "toolbox level", to let any tool use them, and share a common selection.

This is needed by the Style Editor as well.

I don't know if this is supposed to be remotable or not.
