Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:23.0) Gecko/20130428 Firefox/23.0 Happens across platforms: 1. Load a pdf document which does not have an outline view (http://samplepdf.com/sample.pdf) 2. Click the sidebar button. 3. Select the "Show document outline button" Actual Result: no action performed. Expected: Until April 16th there used to be a "No outline" message. Note: the button is functional for documents with outline view. Regression range: http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=1d9c510b3742&tochange=50ab959f4bd1 This should be bug 861399.

This was intentional. There's no point in having the button enabled if nothing will be shown. https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/pull/3054
