This bug blocks bug 862321 and applies to search usability improvements in the Contacts application specifically. The goal is to create consistency in search across all core apps to minimize the risk of usability issues.

Hi Mark - Thanks for flagging me on this. I'm having problems applying patches to my phone right now but I managed to review aspects of the implementation in Aurora. I'll also touch base with Przemek, my counterpart in visual design, on Friday morning to see if he's able to preview the patch so we can review it together.

In the meantime, though, I do have some preliminary feedback.

- First, this is a big improvement already, so thanks! 

Second, I noticed that, when using the quick scroll navigation in the right margin, scrolling up to the search icon does not display the search input field. Instead, it just stops at the top of the first listing.  

- The other thing I noticed is that the search characters are not highlighted in the results as they are in music. 

- Finally, in terms of feedback on transition and visuals,  transition feedback until I'm able to see it on a device. 

Hopefully this preliminary feedback helps. I'll have more feedback tomorrow after reviewing this with Przemek and will leave my review flag open for now.

Hi Rob, 

Thanks for the inital feedback.  I think you might be looking an old version.  I'll take a look at the second issue since that's the only one I have not addressed yet, but I'm sure there will be more :)  In case you read this before music, I'm still trying to get my hands on actual layout specs for fine tuning.  I think you've requested Sergi for info in bug 866899 but still waiting on response.  Let me know if you find anything else.

Please re-open if this is still relevant given the interface at this stage. Believe search no longer has these issues.
