From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.1+) Gecko/20010619 BuildID: 2001061905 Mozilla used to include an expanding/collapsing folder and file viewer for ftp sites. Sadly, this was slow and for some reason it was nixed. I suggest a rewrite of the code, using outliner to make things faster, and a split pane view to separate folder browsing and file displays. In other words, make it more like native file browsing apps (ie: windows explorer). I'm sure separating folders from files would decrease the super long listings we saw when the old ftp ui was in place, and would increase usability. A non-html interface would also allow for easier implementation of property changing (bug 64214 ) and drag and drop file upload/download/moving. The current html-ized browsing is especially clumsy when searching through multiple directories in a heirarchy. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.go to an ftp site 2.marvel at the html-ized ftp listings Actual Results: I wish this darn wizard would let me leave this blank. Expected Results: But it doesn't. ...stupid wizard... Related to bug 69185 , but this requests an enhancement of the original design.

We're really not an ftp app. My intention is to move to the xul as the default though.
Depends on: 69185
The old view wasn't nixed, it was just turned off by default. You can get the old view back by going to Prefs > Debug > Networking and unchecking Enable HTML Directory Listing.
This sounds like the right design for addressing all that single-click/double-click debating that went on in previous ftp/tree bugs. cc sairuh so she can send future XP-app comments here...
