Details
Its difficult to download news messages for offline reading. You have to follow
exactly the following steps to get the messages from the news-server:
1. Visist each newsgroup in turn to get the new headers
2. Select download/sync from the File menu
3. Click the "select" button on the pop-up box that appears _every time_
although you may have selected the relevant newsgroups in an earlier session
4. Now press OK and wait for the messages to download.
If you skip step 1 and 3 and try to download the messages rightaway, nothing happen.
If you skip step 1, and open the window for "selecting" newsgroups in step 4,
you will see the number of messages that need to be downloaded, but nothing
happens when you go to step 4.
If you skip only step 3, results seem to be unpredictable.
And yes, the download process itself is excrutiatingly slow on my P200 with 96MB
ram.
