Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/20.0
Build ID: 20130329030832

Steps to reproduce:

Set Dolphin as the default file manager.
Click on Save or Save As.
Browse to folder.
Wait for file to download.
Select Open Containing Folder

Actual results:

Browse to folder uses Nautilus.
Open Containing Folder uses Nautilus

Expected results:

Firefox should always obey system settings and preferences even if the user makes a bad choice or stupid mistake.

If Firefox has an internal setting for choosing the file and folder manager, the preference should be exposed to users on systems using X. That includes Unix, Linux, BSD, and OS X with X installed.
Forcing the use of Gnome and GTK also means a slow response when opening the file manager or file browser. I realize that users may change ui.allow_platform_file_picker to false, but that does not change the file manager. Can there not be a preference like ui.file_manger of the type string that can be changed manually. The default value to use the Gnome file manager (most likely Nautilus) could still be set.
