Hello Comms,
Ben S. has drafted an email to be sent out tomorrow for Mothers Day - https://etherpad.mozilla.org/mothers-day
Today I'm going to finalize the 'Get Started' page - https://make-dev.mozillalabs.com/en-US/projects/make-mom-proud/ - taking Erica's suggestions for more clear instructions besides what's in the HTML comments in the Thimble project itself
(Note the 'Get Started' button doesn't work on the dev server, but it will go here - https://thimble.webmaker.org/p/lrxw/edit )
Will be updating this ticket over the next few hours as I update the 'Get Started' page.

Thanks Jacob, let me know when it's ready to review.
RE: the email; Ben can we message the email a little more like what we presented in the all-hands?
"Sunday is Mother's Day! Why not send Mom a hand-crafted web page to show her how much you care? Here's a reminder that Mozilla makes a tool that makes it easy to tell mom you love her—Webmaker. We're working on a prototype this week that helps people make a page for Mom -- and learn a little HTML and CSS along the way. (here's a sneak peak.)"
See Jacob's example https://thimble.webmaker.org/p/lrn0/

Hey Erica -- not sure how that's different/better? We get the same point across, no?

Hi All,
We haven't had the chat on how to integrate the development mailing list with the communications strategy, yet. Hoping we can crack that out at the all hands.
For now, I'd like to move with what Ben's drafted, which fits what our list is used to receiving.
If / when we use the list for things other than fundraising, we can start by telegraphing that the change is coming.

Ben -- the emphasis needs to be more on using our Webmaker tools in general, less on presenting this as a final/polished project. i.e. the project is one example of what you can do using webmaker, not the final call to action.
Does that make sense?
And geoffrey, yes, I think the tone is fine, my concern and suggestion has to do with the way we talk about the project as a final project.
But, why?
We know a focused push does better in general on email, and we've done general pushes on webmaker before and will do again, once we have the webmaker v2 that we're pushing.

OK here's an updated draft of the project page:
https://make-dev.mozillalabs.com/en-US/projects/make-mom-proud/
The screenshots are not accurate yet, just wanted to check in with you first on this layout before capturing, uploading, and importing the actual real screenshots.
Also the project has been updated and made a bit prettier: https://thimble.webmaker.org/p/l7fc/

Ben's point about making a /specific/ ask is a fundamental part of sales. Providing choice or introducing increased scale reduces engagement.
How about if we change the CTA to be "...use Webmaker tools to..." and then, at the end, add a sentence about how this isn't the only thing you can do and keep coming back?

Ben and Geoff: The issue is that the project isn't in a state we want to be promoting as a final project. However you want to phrase the ask is fine, but please take that into account.
Jacob, thanks, will review.
Hmm -- if the issue is that we don't think it's top-notch content, do we really want to send at all? Maybe we just go to the narrower "webmaker" audience we can segment out?

Ah, sorry. Misunderstood. Yes: As Ben says, if it's not a good exemplar can we fix or replace or hold on it?

Also, we have this "explain to Mom what you do" project that Brett and Rebeccah both like - https://thimble.webmaker.org/p/lrn0/ - as another example to share
And I agree that segmenting this might be a good idea

Here's my proposal:
- Jacob, publish the project on webmaker, and we can use in our social media channels and tumblr
- Refrain from a mailing list push - we want a high bar for these, like we set for Valentine's Day. We didn't aim there for this one so shouldn't put in front of that many users.

Okay folks, going to publish these at 5pm Pacific unless anyone interjects
Webmaker project page:
https://make-dev.mozillalabs.com/en-US/projects/make-mom-proud/
Thimble project page:
https://thimble.webmaker.org/p/l7dg/edit
I'll let Rebeccah take it from here with the social media planning, let me know if you need anything else

Looping back on this, based on Brett & Geoff's comments, seems like the decision is to hold on the email?
Let me know if you disagree.

Close it. In the future, I'll attach a metrics follow up to each date-centric content piece.
