Steps to reproduce:
Touch the screen to scroll up or down in any Google site [search, maps, gmail, etc] Using Nightly 23.0a1 (2013-04-29)
Actual results:
Text is always selected
Expected results:
Page should move up or down [scroll]. No issue with other browsers.

Could you please update your GPU driver?
Could you please also try the following, to see if you still reproduce the issue :
1) try this with a clean profile: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
2) running in Safe mode: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

Tried [without backing up old profile - Ooops] - no result

No results here either. Still selecting text.

It is. Not an issue using a mouse. Not using a mouse. Using my finger hence the problem. :-)
