It would be nice to build the apn.json database automatically and probably to add it to the Gaia build process. I guess we need to deprecate both existing ${GAIA_HOME}/shared/resources/apn/index.html and ${GAIA_HOME}/shared/resources/apn/query.js files and create a more script-like method (probably an python script). Moreover I'd would be nice to use that script for checking-out/updating the Android and Gnome source databases more often.

Go for it (work on it during free cycles).

Waiting for the 'Using a single language and open source tooling for our build system' discussion in dev-gaia mailing list reaches an agreement.
+1 to that: extend the 'Makefile' in this shared/resources/apn directory and drop the index.html + query.js files.

I’d much prefer using JS everywhere though — but as you mentioned, there’s an ongoing discussion on m.d.gaia about that.

I'm not working on this so I'm leaving it unassigned so someone else can work on it. Sorry. Thanks!
