Try:
Edit → Preferences → Advanced → HTTP Networking → User Agent String →
[x] Advertise Firefox compatibility
which (BTW) is the default.

I don't use Firefox. I don't relish usage statistics inflating Firefox usage and deflating SeaMonkey usage. Advertising Firefox is how one avoids messages that result from incompetent sniffing. It makes discovering sites that use such incompetent sniffing all but impossible.

Advertising Firefox compatibility does not inflate Firefox statistics to the detriment of SeaMonkey. It is not the same as using User Agent Switcher to masquerade as Firefox: statistics sites will know that this
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0 SeaMonkey/2.20a1
(which is the default user-agent string for the SeaMonkey trunk build I'm using at the moment) means I'm using SeaMonkey.

Regardless of statistics, how does anyone discover incompetent sniffing if advertising Firefox is turned on?

That's another story. OK, if what you want is hunt down incompetent sniffers and, er, “educate” them, then you may disable the normal workarounds which are in place to make their sniffing less hurtful. OTOH, leave the “Firefox advertisement” in place to have a more pleasant browsing experience in spite of incompetent sniffing.

TE bugs are about discovering and reporting incompetence to the end of getting it reduced or stopped. Education is implied. Workarounds for a "more pleasant experience" are not.
