Build: Firefox 23.0a2 05/16 Device: Asus Eee Transformer OS : Android 4.0.3 Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to http://people.mozilla.com/~nhirata/html_tp/elephants-dream.webm 2. Open another tab and browse to any webpage. - ex. bbc.com Expected Results: - Webm content should not paused if another page is opened Actual Results: - Webm content is paused if another page is opened
I am certain this is as expected. The user sways away from the active video playing in the document in a tab and it is paused on purpose.
(In reply to Aaron Train [:aaronmt] from comment #1) > I am certain this is as expected. The user sways away from the active video > playing in the document in a tab and it is paused on purpose. (on a mobile device to conserve battery-life, etc).
I think we need to watch for feedback on this issue and see what people see. Google and Apple have both said they're unwilling to have the same behavior and instead expect web pages to manage state themselves (although they may be willing to treat apps different than normal pages).
We have completed our launch of our new Firefox on Android. The development of the new versions use GitHub for issue tracking.
