1. Title: Music loading is taking time from SD card, when It has 600 mb of songs files
2. Precondition: 600 mb songs in external SD card
3. Tester's Action: (1) insert the SD card, which has 600 mb of songs 
                    (2) Power On
                    (3) Open Music 
                    (5) measure the music loading of all the 600 mb songs 
4. Detailed Symptom (ENG.) : Some time takes long initial time
5. Expected: It should always take same and less scanning time for the 1st scanning 
6. Reproducibility: Y

I think it's trivial that the first time scanning takes times and depends on how many songs on user's SD card, and I don't know what's the acceptable time for this bug, Leo, would you please point out what's you concern on the first scanning time?

We need more information on the performance targets and current measurements for them, i.e:

Time to Launch App
  * Irrespective of the # of songs

Time to First Interaction
  * How soon after app launch can the user interact with the app? 

Time to Scan SD Card
  * Small  # of songs
  * Normal # of songs
  * Large  # of songs
  * Where does 600MB fit, small, normal, large?

(1) How much time is taking when issue is reproducible?
    First time 1hr, 2nd time 30min,3rd time 5min
(2)  Reproducibility:- 10 %
       
(3) SD card contain and size of the data :-
    For testing, various files formats has been used as 3GPA, AAC, AMR, DCF, m4a,         MIDI, wav, WMA, mp3 etc.
    Each file format data have been kept in different folders and subfolders.
    Mp3: - 213 mb (9 songs)+ 4.17 mb (9 songs)+138 mb(16 songs)+ 54.5 mb(6 songs)
    AAC:- 44.6 mb (45 songs)
    AMR: - 0.752 mb(26 songs) +0.491 (10 songs)
    Etc. If it is requires, I will give detail information.

Triage - blocking based on figures given in comment 4, one hour scanning time is unacceptable.
However, please de-nom if the root cause, once found, indicates this to be one off glitch or low severity bug.

This bug has been listed as a priority bug for the San Diego workweek. Leo: if you can share your 600mb of music samples with us during the workweek, we can try to figure out what is taking so long to scan them.

Dominic or I should probably own this bug.

After a reflash, on first run of the music app, it takes 8-10 seconds to show the first few albums in my collection, and about 45 seconds to finish scanning. I've set up my SD card with 13 directories under Music, each with a bunch of songs. Total of 195 songs, taking up 877 MB, mostly mp3 with a few m4a files.

Update from San Diego work week:

With Leo's test data I was not able to reproduce this issue on both Leo device or unagi. We also try the same data on Leo's own device but results the same, it's not reproducible.

I looked on the log that generated by Music app, there seems no obvious errors so I would suggest Leo to use their latest gecko to test this issue again, probably not a gaia issue, thanks.

We're now checking to reproduce this because it's rate of frequency was under 10% by our tester's report. 
Anyway, until end of work week, I will update it.
