Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:21.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/21.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130512194445 Steps to reproduce: I configured the 'Chat' component of Thunderbird with Gtalk and a few other accounts. Actual results: A list of contacts is shown in the 'Online Contacts' list. I have my phone (HTC One X) next to me. After a while, on my phone, I can see a contact come online, but the contact does not come online in TB. Only after restarting TB does the contact come online. Expected results: The contact should also come online without having to restart TB - if it is a matter of time, then it should happen more quickly (or be configurable as to how often it is checked).
Do you see any errors in the Error Console that seem related to this?
I don't see anything - I'll keep an eye out for this in future and add here if I see anything relevant.
OK, I have the problem again today, and I see this error : Timestamp: 05/21/2013 04:33:54 PM Error: [Exception... "'TypeError: item is undefined' when calling method: [nsIObserver::observe]" nsresult: "0x8057001c (NS_ERROR_XPC_JS_THREW_JS_OBJECT)" location: "JS frame :: resource:///modules/jsProtoHelper.jsm :: <TOP_LEVEL> :: line 413" data: no] Source File: resource:///modules/xmpp-xml.jsm Line: 398 same error from different files...mostly jsProtoHelper.jsm:413, but also xmpp-xml.jsm:398 (though the error is exactly as above. Hope this helps.
There's a similar error mentioned in bug 790539. But I thought at the time it was related to the IRC list of participants.
Well, I use several protocols...but the actual person I notice it with most is on gtalk, though the other day it was someone on XMPP (is that what GTalk uses also? wikipedia suggests it is)...
Does this still happen with a current daily build? (Yes, gtalk uses JS-XMPP behind the scenes.)
Component: Instant Messaging → XMPP
Product: Thunderbird → Chat Core
Version: 17 → trunk
sorry, I've no idea. I've long since given up on mozilla, unfortunately. Thanks for asking though.
